Kurt Snyder
(Head Coach)

Kurt received a congressional appointment to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY.  It was there a friend urged him to wake up early and try out for the rowing team.  It was a natural fit as Kurt made varsity his sophomore year and was co-captain his senior year. He is trained as both a sweep-oar rower and sculler.  However, he usually shifted between the ‘stroke’ and bow position of his men’s varsity 4+.

Kurt has vast experience in rowing at some of the top regattas in the nation to include multiple appearances at the Head of the Charles in Boston.  Kurt’s shell, Regulator, fared well in national competition and never lost a “shirt race”!

After graduation, Kurt served 11 years on active duty as a Naval Officer and subsequent corporate management positions.  Kurt has since turned his hobby, strategic real estate investing, into his career and is a Realtor in Virginia Beach.

Kurt and his wife reside in Virginia Beach with their two young children.

Thomas Rodgers
(Assistant Coach)

Thomas graduated from First Colonial High School and was an avid rower with the program.  While at First Colonial, Thomas rowed in a variety of different shells, but settled into the men’s varsity 4+ and competed at the regional and state levels.  Thomas was previously a coaching intern, but became an assistant coach in 2011.

When not rowing, he is a full time student at TCC with plans to transfer to Virginia Tech or VCU and major in Physics.  Thomas works for Marriott Corporation at the Virginia Beach oceanfront.  He enjoys staying active with friends and wakeboarding at the beach, and visiting his family in England.

Thomas will be pursuing a career as an airline pilot.
