Sponsorship Opportunities
The First Colonial Crew Club is seeking the support of area businesses to participate in our 3nd Annual
Pull-for-FC Golf Classic at Oceana Tomcat Golf Course. We are seeking corporate sponsors
as well as merchandise and gift card contributions which we can use for a silent auction. This promises
to be an exciting event with a full 144 golfers anticipated. There will be a our hole-in-one sponsor, with a $10,000 pay out!
Hole Sponsor:
We are looking for sponsors for each of the 18 holes. Sponsorship of a hole is $150. In addition to placing a sponsorship sign at the sponsored hole, the sponsors will be acknowledged in tournament promotions, printed material, and at the awards ceremony at the end of the tournament.
Lunch Sponsor:
We are also seeking a generous sponsor for our lunch event. This premiere sponsor would receive
priority recognition in all promotional materials as well as a large banner at the end of the tournament
lunch and awards ceremony. We are seeking a donation of $1200 to sponsor lunch but would happily
accept partial donations towards that goal.
Silent Auction Donations:
There will be a silent auction in conjunction with the Golf Tournament. Merchandise that is donated will be displayed with the donors name on the auction sheets. Business cards and/or small fliers (8"x6" max) will be allowed next to donated items.
With your sponsorship, donations, and participation, we will be able to provide the rowers with additional rowing shells and equipment to keep this important program flourishing. Founded in 2001 by a handful of members and one rowing machine, the First Colonial Crew Club has
grown to include up to 55 members and 8 professional rowing shells. Rowing looks graceful, elegant,
and sometimes effortless when well done, but don't be fooled. The sport demands endurance, strength,
balance, and mental discipline. It teaches responsibility, team building, sportsmanship, and discipline.
Crew is a three season rowing program of conditioning and practice on the water. The fall is a time for
cardiovascular conditioning and long-distance races called head races. During the winter, the team
does land conditioning and ergathons (indoor rowing competitions). Spring practices are held daily
with focus on enhancing form, power, and speed. The sport celebrates the nautical heritage of our
local community and provides for lifelong fitness and health. Crew is one of the fastest growing
NCAA sports in the nation. Four rowers have received college scholarship as a result of their high
school rowing with FC Crew.
What is Crew?
Crew rowing is a total body workout. Although rowing looks like an upper body sport, the strength of the rowing stroke comes from the legs. Rowing is one of the few athletic sports that involve all of the body's major muscle groups. It is a great aerobic workout; second only to cross country skiing, with low impact on joints. Rowing looks graceful, elegant, and sometimes effortless when well done, but don't be fooled. The sport demands endurance, strength, balance, and mental discipline.
First Colonial Crew is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. Our tax ID # is 54-20520885. Since the sport of crew is unfunded by the City of Virginia Beach, the team must fund its existence. We have an annual operating budget in excess of $50,000. This does not include the cost for new boats and equipment. We appreciate your supporting our ability to purchase new boats and to help maintain our current boats, so our rowers are competitive and safe on the water.
